The prom can be less Pretty in Pink and more Carrie for gay and transgender teens (just ask Constance McMillen). Knowing this, the New York Public Library staged the "Anti-Prom: Super Prom" on June 3 at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building in Astor Hall. "Teens who may not feel welcome at official school proms or dances because of their sexual orientation, the way they dress, or for any other reason," were all welcome to attend, according to the NYPL. Fashion-forward superhero was the theme of the evening and many queer teens came with their own cape and utility belt, while others stuck to a jeans/t-shirts ensemble.
