The Professional
Organization of Women in Entertainment Reaching Up
(POWER UP) will hold its sixth annual Power Premiere Gala at
the Beverly Hills Hotel on Sunday, November 12, 2006.
The gala, primarily a fund-raiser for POWER UP's
upcoming slate of films and events, will also have an
awards portion honoring film and television professionals
dedicated to LGBT visibility in the media. The Premiere
Award winners will be Brian Graden on behalf of
the Logo television network, and Tara Sandler,
Jennifer Davidson and Scott Templeton for Pie Town
Productions.
The 10 Amazing
Women in Showbiz awards will also be handed out that
evening, with honorees ranging from actor-model Jenny
Shimizu and entertainment attorney Dina LaPolt to
activist Lisa Thomas and Curve magazine editor Diane
Anderson-Minshall. Confirmed presenters for the event
include Melanie Mayron (thirtysomething), Michelle C.
Bonilla (ER) and Chad Allen (Dr. Quinn,
Medicine Woman).
