In a lawsuit against her former manager, k.d. lang was awarded $1.9 million in damages by the Los Angeles superior court on Tuesday, reports Chartattack.com.

Lang alleged that former manager Annabel Lapp stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from the singer and misappropriated an unknown sum of money from her bank accounts. Lang claimed that Lapp would often write checks from the singer's account and purposefully not disclose their amounts. Lang also claimed that after she fired Lapp, the manager wrote five checks for over $20,000 without Lang's permission.

Lapp's lawyer, Michael Velletta, says Lang should have filed the suit in Canada, since all of the business dealings with Lapp happened there. Velletta thinks the case is not enforceable in Canada and doesn't believe Lang will see the money.

Lang will tour the United States this summer with Lyle Lovett. (The Advocate)
