Hours after Dallas threw its Pride parade Sunday, a young man was attacked by four men, who beat him, robbed him, and called him antigay slurs.

The attack happened in Dallas's "gayborhood" of Oak Lawn. The 29-year-old man was repeatedly punched, kicked, and hit with a baseball bat. A neighbor assisted the victim after the attack and called an ambulance.

The victim, whose name has not been released, is out of the hospital, but he is recovering from abrasions, cuts, bruises, and a fractured skull, according to KDFW, a local Fox affiliate.

Though Dallas police are investigating the crime as hate-driven, a hate-crime enhancement cannot be brought because police are already seeking a first-degree felony, which could bring the suspects decades in prison.
