Health officials in Shanghai, China, plan to triple the number of condom vending machines in the city to help fight rising HIV and sexually transmitted disease rates in the region, Agence France-Presse reports. The city plans to install an additional 1,200 machines in addition to the 700 condom vending machines already installed in entertainment venues, residential communities, and areas where migrant workers gather. Two hundred of the machines will dispense free condoms; the others will require a small purchase fee. (Advocate.com)
