Suspected state security agents destroyed literature and a booth belonging to the Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe over the weekend at the Zimbabwe International Book Fair in Harare.
Book fair executive director Greenfield Chilongo confirmed that equipment belonging to the organization had been damaged. The Zimbabwean government at one point banned GALZ from exhibiting at the book fair, but the group won a high court ruling banning President Robert Mugabe's government from interfering with its activities. Mugabe has in the past condemned gays and lesbians, saying they are "worse than dogs and pigs." (Sirius/OutQ News)
