A group of allegedly gay cross-dressers was attacked in Jamaica at the funeral of businessman Kirk Wayne Lester, reports www.rjr94fm.com (Real Jamaican Radio).

An angry mob reportedly attacked the group with machetes, bottles, knives, and stones. The Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All Sexuals, and Gays has appealed to religious and political leaders to denounce the attacks.

The group Jamaicans for Justice expressed outrage at the attack, which occurred on Easter Sunday at a church. The attackers allegedly surrounded the church and threw projectiles through a window, intended for gay attendees at the funeral.

As recently as last week a group of gay people was attacked at the Montego Bay Nite Out Carnival, and in February three men were reportedly cornered and attacked by a 2,000-person mob outside Monarch Pharmacy in Tropical Square. (The Advocate)
