As the New York City political season enters full swing, three openly gay candidates from Queens have been endorsed by The New York Times in their potentially historic bids for the New York City council. Democratic candidates Danny Dromm, Lynn Schulman, and Jimmy Van Bramer (pictured) each could become among the first openly gay elected officials to represent the city's second most populous borough.
The New York Times on Saturday delivered its coveted endorsement for "several of the most competitive districts where winning the Democratic primary usually means capturing the seat." Among those tapped were Dromm, a public school teacher from the Jackson Heights area; Schulman, a hospital executive in Forest Hills; and Van Bramer, a library administrator from Sunnyside.
The New York City primary election takes place next Tuesday.
