Judge OKs Argentinas Second Gay Marriage

Argentina_marriagex390

Two Argentine men were given permission to marry by a Buenos Aires judge on Tuesday.

Judge Elena Liberatori authorized the couple to set a date at the Civil Registry, according to Agence France-Presse. Their names have not been released. She said the couple should have marriage rights, even though current laws "are not in line with the times."

This gay couple is the second from Argentina to make international headlines. In November 2009 a judge ruled that Alex Freye and Jose Maria di Bello could marry on December 1, World AIDS Day. After legal proceedings postponed their wedding, they eventually got married December 28.
