San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is expected to announce Friday his plans to run for California Lieutenant Governor, according to the Los Angeles Times.
In October, Newsom pulled out of the 2010 governor's race after experiencing low poll numbers against current attorney general and fellow Democrat Jerry Brown, who is also running for governor.
Newsom told close supporters and elected officials of his plans. So far, he has formed a fund-raising committee, receiving nearly $18,000 from three donors on Thursday.
