A man ejected from a Milwaukee Brewers game was cited for disorderly conduct by police after he used a homophobic slur aimed at St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina.

MLB umpire Bob Davidson (pictured) threw Sean Ottow, 44, out of Miller Park at the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday night, the Associated Press reports. Davidson said he ejected the drunk spectator, who had been heckling Molina all night, to prevent the situation from escalating.

"Molina, I thought he was going to go toward [the fan] and I said, 'I'll take care of it,'" Davidson said. "I was going to wait until between innings and not be so obvious, but I figured after he said that, he was very intoxicated, I needed to take care of it."

After being handcuffed, Ottow sat on a bench outside the stadium and claimed he "never swore at" Molina.

"He got the umpire to throw me out," he said. "You'd think these guys would have tougher skin than that."

The Brewers beat the Cardinals Tuesday 4-2.
