During a segment about marriage equality on his CNN newscast Saturday, out anchor Don Lemon hosted a debate between Daniel O'Donnell, who is cosponsor of New York's same-sex marriage bill and equality opponent Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage.
Lemon asks Brown if he's worried about the bill being passed, reminding him that 58% of New Yorkers support same-sex marriage. Brown contends that he saw similar polls in California and Maine and if New York voters have "a free and fair vote, they will vote to protect [marriage]."
Assemblyman O'Donnell says that he is confident that it will pass and he is "proud to be part of the process that is expanding the rights of New Yorkers." Brown later argues that same-sex marriage is not a civil right.
