A New Jersey mayor who a male escort says paid him for sex has resigned from his post and lost his day job.

Medford mayor Chris Myers has denied it's him lying in bed in a picture of a man in his underwear posted on the Internet in November. The scorned escort, who claims to be owed payment (in the form of a car and other gifts), also posted pictures of the mayor's identification. Still, Myers continued his denials even while resigning as mayor on Monday, according to the Courier-Post.

Instead, the 46-year-old, married Republican said in a resignation letter, "My work commitments will not allow me to devote the time that is needed in the months ahead."

The newspaper points out that the mayor no longer appears to have "work commitments," with his employer, Lockheed Martin, confirming that Myers left and had been placed on administrative leave following the controversy.
