Even before opening statements begin, new details are emerging in the complicated case against Dharun Ravi, accused of secretly videotaping a gay sexual encounter of his Rutgers roommate days before he ended his life.
It's been difficult to find an impartial New Jersey jury to hear the case against 19-year-old Ravi, who could face 10 years in jail if convicted of bias intimidation against his former roommate, Tyler Clementi, who ended his life in September 2010. Another juror was just removed from the pool, reports The Star-Ledger. The story also notes that Ravi tweeted about the webcam-taped sexual encounter and later invited his followers to watch it, but Clementi managed to prevent that from happening.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times reports that Clementi requested a room change after discovering that Ravi taped him with another man. The request was pending when Clementi jumped off the George Washington Bridge.
