Beals, Troche land on Earthlings

Variety reports that Earthlings, a proposed Showtime lesbian-themed dramatic series, is starting to line up its talent. Jennifer Beals is the first actress to commit to the show's ensemble, and out filmmaker Rose Troche (Go Fish, Bedrooms and Hallways, the upcoming Safety of Objects) will direct the pilot. Earthlings deals with a young woman who moves to Los Angeles to get married to a man, only to find herself falling in love with a woman; Beals will play the lead's neighbor, an art curator in a long-standing lesbian relationship.
