20/20 segment to explore intersexed babies
Friday night's 20/20 on ABC will feature a segment with correspondent Lynn Sherr regarding intersexed infants, those born with what is called "ambiguous sexuality." Included in the piece will be doctors who have different viewpoints regarding the use of surgery to "normalize" the genitals toward one sex or the other. Speaking against the practice is Hida Viloria, 33, who says that intersexuals should be allowed to decide as adults if they want their genitals altered: "Don't try to cut us up or change us or shame us or hide us," she says.
