Chris Lopez's male figure work -- especially those done on wood -- are like a bear hug. You feel surrounded by warmth.

Florida artist Chris Lopez has keeps it intimate and local. Except for a few regional galleries, most all of his work for sale can be bought directly from him at LopezGallery.com.
"You can meet me there working every day on new artwork and purchase directly from me my originals and prints," Lopez says on his website.
My artwork is not sexual, rather intimate and comforting," he continues. "It conveys the pleasure of being alone, naked, by ourselves. Nudity for me is that intimate moment where there is nothing to hide when we are alone with our own vulnerability. Fascinated for years of classical art and illustration studies, I play easily and comfortably with the male form in a variety of techniques: acrylic, watercolor, charcoal and photography. I 'speak' every technique like a different language -- the laws of light and shadow with a contemporary reminiscence of the old masters."
Born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1966, Lopez became interested in art while attending a children's art school at age 8. He continued his studies at Pau Gargallo University in Barcelona for 10 years, where he was awarded two BA degrees in graphic design, and artistic illustration and painting, while consecutively studying photography and set design for television and stage. During the last two decades, his work has been exhibited in numerous galleries in Europe and the United States. He has lived in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for 15 years where he works as an independent artist in his own studio and gallery.
