Queer electro-pop duo Hi Fashion have shared a video for their slinky single "Mother Sister Father Brother" exclusively with The Advocate.
Both the song and its striking video celebrate chosen families -- the more exotic the better.
The video follows a young man on a solitary trek through lush wilderness. There he finds otherworldly individuals who, after an elaborate ritual, welcome him into their clan.
The song finds musician Rick Gradone crafting funky dance pop, as singer Jen DM serves up the queerest rap ever, urging folks to "Get it together/because it's family time."
The duo met several years ago at a Manhattan gay bar when Gradone hit on the androgynous Jen DM believing she was a man. Later they relocated to Los Angeles.
The video for the duo's 2013 breakout single "Amazing" famously featured RuPaul's Drag Race season 3 winner Raja. (The song was also featured in one of Drew Droege's wacky Chloe Sevigny videos.)
