The four men
arrested in the beating of gay dance diva Kevin Aviance last
weekend in New York City have been arraigned on assault
charges. Sixteen-year-old Gerard Johnson and
20-year-old Jarell Sears were both charged Monday with
"first-degree gang assault" and "first-degree assault
as a hate crime" in the beating.
The two other men arrested in the assault,
Gregory Archie and Akino George, were arraigned on the
same charges on Tuesday. None of the four men entered
a plea, and bail has been set at $25,000 for each. If
convicted, the suspects could face up to 25 years behind bars.
Aviance was discharged from Manhattan's Beth
Israel Medical Center on Monday with his leg in a
brace and his jaw wired shut. (Sirius OutQ News)
