The FBI recorded more than 7,600 incidents of hate crimes last year, with the highest number of them being motivated by racial bias, then religious bias, followed by prejudice against sexual orientation. Analysis of those categories showed that the majority of those crimes were anti-black, anti-Jewish, and antigay.
The report merely presented the statistics for 2007 without offering any analysis of why some bias crimes were on the rise while others decreased. (The Advocate)
