Blood's Brooks Awaiting Marriage Equality

Audiences have certainly connected with sexy True Blood star Mehcad Brooks, who plays the character Eggs in the series, but the oft-shirtless actor says he wants to be known as more than a pretty face. And why shouldn't he? The film buff is livid over Prop. 8 and has a crush on Rachel Maddow's brain.

In an interview with HoneyMag.com, the 28-year-old actor said that while he's the marrying type, he doesn't think too much about it because he won't tie the knot until marriage is legal for everyone.

"I find it really offensive," Brooks said. "I just find it really problematic when you start throwing people's rights away. Until we get our gay brothers and sisters back into a realm of consciousness that everyone else is in, it's just not right. A woman who's getting married -- it's probably going to be a gay man who made her dress, and a gay man who's doing her hair and makeup, but he can't get married. How messed up is that?"

When the interviewer presses Brooks to describe his ideal woman, he says, "I have a celebrity crush that just won't go away: Halle Berry. They even made a song about her. I also have a crush on Rachel Maddow's mind."

He later clarifies that Maddow is "cute in every way" and that he never misses her show. "I've got a crush on her delivery and I've got a crush on her wit."
