Elton Replacing Simon on Idol

Days after American Idol judge Simon Cowell has officially announced that he will not return for the tenth season of the popular Fox show, it appears that the Rocket Man may fill his shoes.

TMZ is reporting that a source close to the talent competition program says executives are looking to bring Elton John onto the show. He was a guest judge on American Idol's third season. If he were to join, fully half of the judges panel would be gay, as Ellen DeGeneres has already signed on to join the judges table for the series' ninth season, now underway.

The rumors have yet to be confirmed by Idol show runners or John's camp.
