The president of the International Federation of Association Football has come under fire for telling gay soccer fans to refrain from any illegal sexual activities when the World Cup touches down in Qatar in 2022.
The International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association and other gay rights activists say the tournament should not be held in a country where homosexuality is illegal and that the comments by Sepp Blatter endorse discrimination.
Over the weekend Blatter said gay fans "should refrain from any sexual activities" that are illegal in Qatar but added that in football, "we have no boundaries. We open everything to everybody and I think there shall not be any discrimination against any human beings, being on this side or that side, left or right or whatever."
