Hello and welcome back folks!
Audience Editor Edgar Ramirez here, back in your inbox after we took off Monday -- though apparently, there's one Democratic candidate who didn't give Republicans a break over the long weekend.
We're talking of course about Texas Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico.
As Jacob Ogles reports, former Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake floated a baseless claim targeting Talarico's support for LGBTQ+ rights, implying in a social media post that he took time off the campaign trail for....gender-affirming surgery. Yup, read for yourselves.
Not to be outdone (as usual), Vice President JD Vance was filmed making assertions (also) about Talarico’s sexuality at a Republican campaign rally in Tyler, Texas.
This is nothing new for Talarico, as Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s campaign has been working overtime in running fake AI ads against him, not to mention a pro-Trump PAC buying ad space in Texas to air an AI-generated 15-second video featuring an deepfake of Talarico "singing" a song about transgender kids parodying “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music.
Living rent-free in their minds, as the saying goes.
Until next time!
