House Republicans in New Hampshire have reportedly decided they won't pursue a repeal of marriage equality in the state this year, according to the Associated Press.
House Republican leader D.J. Bettencourt told the AP Wednesday that jobs and the economy will be the top priorities on the agenda to be announced Thursday.
"The social issues must take a backseat," said Bettencourt.
Bettencourt did say an abortion issue will be on the agenda, but declined to elaborate.
Marriage equality was enacted in 2009 when Democrats controlled the legislature. Gov. John Lynch signed the law and has since vetoed any attempt to repeal it.
Republicans declined to say whether they plan to delay a bill to repeal marriage equality until next year. Under the rules, committees cannot kill bills but can hold them for the first year of a two-year session.
