Madonna-Britney kiss continues to make waves in Atlanta

The Madonna-Britney Spears kiss on the MTV Video Music Awards back in September continues to make waves among Atlantans. The city's principal daily newspaper, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, ran an apology after offending readers by running a photo of the kiss on the front page. Now a local radio station has had to take down a billboard--which had been up for less than a week--that featured the pop tarts swapping tongue. MSNBC.com's Jeannette Walls reports that Atlanta radio station 96 Rock erected a billboard that featured a photo of the kiss with the accompanying line "Their music stinks, but we'd do 'em." Station spokesperson Scott Baker told MSNBC, "The billboard was pushing the edge, but I didn't think it was offensive. But we got calls from area residents who passed by the board who were expressing their discontent that they were having to have uncomfortable conversations with their children and just felt it was morally offensive." While Baker says more complaints were registered over the same-sex kiss than over the billboard copy, he notes, "We did get some calls that were like, 'Right on,' 'I think it's hilarious,' and 'You shouldn't take it down.'
