Out producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (Chicago, It's All Relative) are putting together a new version of The Blue Lagoon as an original movie for the WB network, reports Variety. But don't expect the soft-core sizzle that Christopher Atkins and Brooke Shields brought to the 1980 version (which was itself a remake of a 1949 film). Zadan tells Variety that this version will be more of a sweeping adventure and love story. "We wondered if there was a way to do a movie that took the best elements of The Blue Lagoon, Survivor, and Cast Away," he said. "But we can't turn out some cheap, exploitative movie. We've figured out a spin that makes it really original and fresh and something we know will be classy."
