Film will tell story of woman who posed as HIV-positive teen boy.
Variety reports that a film about phony author JT LeRoy and "his" literary hoax is in the works at the Weinstein Co. Jesse Peretz (The Chateau) is set to direct, and Tom Lassally (Stay) will produce the film about writer Laura Albert, who pretended to be sexually abused, HIV-positive teen runaway JT LeRoy in order to become a literary sensation, and Savannah Knoop, the sister of Albert's boyfriend, who made public appearances as the transgender LeRoy. The con job was exposed in two New York magazine articles by Stephen Beachy. No casting is yet confirmed. (Advocate.com)
