An obscure
Tennessee Williams screenplay discovered after his death
will be brought to the big screen, according to The
New York Times. The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond will star Lindsey
Lohan as one of the lead roles, Fisher Willow, the despised
daughter of a plantation owner.
The screenplay is
believed to have been written in the 1950s, but the
date is not certain. It was published in 1984 as part
of a four-part compilation titled Stopped
Rocking and Other Screenplays. Richard Gilman,
who wrote the introduction to the screenplay, wrote
that Teardrop Diamond was probably "the
strongest of the four scripts" and the best for film
adaptation.
Production is
expected to begin next year. (The Advocate)
