Knowles and Eva Longoria are in serious talks to star in
Sofia Coppola's planned big-screen adaptation of Sarah
Waters's lesbian love story Tipping the Velvet.
The novel is set in Victorian England and centers
around music-hall star Kitty Butler and her lover, Nan
Longoria told the
press, "Yes, it's true. We are talking about doing the
movie together. It's such a wonderful novel, a beautiful
love story." Added Knowles: "We've had Brokeback
Mountain, so the time is right for this divine novel to
get the same treatment."
The BBC sparked
controversy with its telefilm of the novel in 2002 due to
its graphic sex scenes. (The Advocate)
