Larry and Andy Wachowski, the writing-directing team behind the Matrix
movies, have written a gay love story about a U.S. soldier and an Iraqi
during wartime.
According to Deadline New York, the film will be shot in cinema-verite style and will likely earn a "hard R" rating. This is the Wachowskis' first directorial venture into gay subject matter since writing and directing 1996's Bound.
They wrote but did not direct 2006's V for Vendetta, which centered around a gay love story.
Larry Wachowski frequently appears in public dressed as a woman, and in 2006 the San Francisco Chronicle reported he had "changed his sex and is now living as Lana Wachowski."
Producer Joel Silver said that claim was untrue a year later, saying his name still appears as Larry on film call sheets.
