Not About Me installation in Santa Monica, Calif., June 3-4
Not About Me will take place Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4, at Highways Performance Space, 1651 18th St. in Santa Monica, Calif. The event features performances and installations by Los Angeles artists of color and queer artists. The pieces explore the question "Is it really possible to create work that is not about oneself?" A variety of subjects are covered, from the U.S.'s nuclear testing (Marianne M. Kim and Lee Anne Schmitt's Making a Disaster: The many deaths of John Wayne) to a trip to Cambodia (Dan Kwong's In the Wake). For tickets call (310) 315-1459 or visit www.HighwaysPerformance.org.
