The groundbreaking hearing, "An Examination of Discrimination Against Transgender Americans in the Workplace" will come before Congress next week. June 26 will mark an historic moment as Congress examines its very first hearing devoted exclusively to transgender issues, opening up possibilities for changes in anti-discrimination laws. Congressman Rob Andrews, a Democrat from New Jersey and Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) subcommittee of the Committee on Education and Labor, called the hearing. Witnesses have not yet been announced. This significant event is coming about only through the devotion of such organizations as the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE).
