Out Australian diver Matthew Mitcham made a disappointing showing in the three-meter springboard diving event at the Olympics in Beijing. Mitcham came in 16th place out of 18 at the semifinals, making him ineligible to move on to the final round, won by China's He Chong. Canada's Alexandre Despatie won the silver, and China's Qin Kai won the bronze.

Mitcham, 20, will have a chance to make up for the loss on Friday at the 10-meter platform diving primary round. (The Advocate)
