Despite an apology from Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson for using antigay slurs, the team has decided to suspend him for one game. Johnson will not play in the November 8 game against Jacksonville. The Chiefs are not scheduled to play this week.
The team issued a statement on Wednesday night, saying that Johnson was suspended for poor conduct. He called another Twitter user a gay slur on Sunday after a loss against the San Diego Chargers. The next day Johnson used an antigay slur in a request for reporters to leave the locker room.
"Get your f****t ass out of here," he said, according to The Kansas City Star.
He apologized on Thursday, saying that he regretted his actions and that his words were used in frustration "and were not appropriate. I did not intend to offend anyone, but that is no excuse for what I said."
