The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is urging people to
reach out to Fox News in response to host Bill O'Reilly's statement on
Wednesday night's show about a gay-themed
McDonald's commercial in France.
As reported earlier, O'Reilly aired the commercial, which is part of a "come as you are" ad campaign in France. It features a gay son keeping his sexuality hidden from his father. After showing the spot, O'Reilly turned to Fox anchor Jane Skinner, who was a guest on the show, and asked whether the fast-food chain would also have an al-Qaeda ad.
GLAAD is asking for at least 500 people to sign a petition, available on Change.org, as well as contact Fox executives directly. The petition asks for an apology from Fox News and O'Reilly, and that the network "put a stop to homophobia on its airwaves."
