A public hearing on the proposed resolution that calls for a constitutional amendment to repeal marriage equality in Iowa will be held Monday evening in Des Moines.

According to the Associated Press, the hearing is scheduled to be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Iowa house of representatives.

On Monday the house judiciary committee approved the resolution calling for a constitutional amendment to repeal marriage equality, for which the state supreme court ruled unanimously in 2009, and other same-sex relationship recognition. The full house is expected to approve the measure, but senate majority leader Michael Gronstal has vowed to block consideration of the measure in his chamber. The resolution would need to be approved in two consecutive sessions of the legislature before it could be sent to voters on the ballot.
