Ricky Martin met with Uruguayan president Jose Mujica yesterday in Montevideo to discuss the singer's campaign against child slavery and the youth sex trade.

"I received an invitation from the presidency, and of course it is an honor to speak," Martin said, according to a translation."If I can talk with leaders who believe in equality, how could I not do [that]."

Martin told reporters that Puerto Rico, where he was born, will soon open a center for young victims of exploitation.

"Human trafficking is something that affects us all," the out star said.

Martin will perform in Montevideo Saturday as part of his South American tour. A video of Martin's Uruguayan fans is below. The original Spanish-language version of the story is here.
