Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal, the highest-ranking Catholic official in Jerusalem, has gone public in denouncing the city's gay pride parade, releasing a pointed statement Friday.
"Its organizers and the authorities who allow it care neither for the feelings of families nor the holiness of this city," he said.
Twal believes the Israeli authorities should have intervened and banned the entire event, out of respect for the Holy Land.
The parade attracted 3,000 people Thursday.
