Where's Mitrice?

Mitrice Richardson is a 4.0 student, a former beauty pageant contestant, and a lesbian. She’s also been missing since September, and her family and girlfriend want answers.

Brilliant and beautiful, Mitrice Richardson found it easy to make people fall in love with her. The 24-year-old’s charm was evident the evening of September 16 when she showed up at a glamorous Malibu, Calif., restaurant to eat dinner by herself. A group of young people soon asked her to join their table, and they enjoyed her company even though they found her banter increasingly odd.

Richardson told her dinner guests she was from Mars and reportedly began speaking in gibberish. This was not typical behavior for the former beauty pageant contestant, who graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a 4.0 grade point average, held down two jobs, volunteered for charity, and was in a committed relationship with another dynamic young woman.

Things went from weird to uncomfortable when Richardson couldn’t pay her $89 tab for Kobe steak and an ocean breeze cocktail. After she unsuccessfully tried to have her grandmother pay the bill over the phone, the restaurant called Los Angeles County sheriff’s officers. The cops found a small amount of marijuana in Richardson’s 1990 Honda Civic. Richardson’s car was impounded, and she was taken into custody at a Malibu sheriff’s station on suspicion of defrauding an innkeeper and possession of marijuana.

Shortly after 1 a.m., Richardson — who lived more than 30 miles away, in south Los Angeles — was released on her own recognizance from the isolated station. An employee told Richardson she could spend the night at the station, but she declined the offer. She allegedly left without money or identification, which her family says remained in her impounded Civic. City buses had stopped running hours earlier.

Mitrice Richardson has been missing ever since.

I am from Canada, and I am shocked and deeply troubled by the lack of human courtesy and feelings for this woman who is missing. Who cares if they found some marihauna in the car ,, better that then a gun,, but I forgot you have the right to bear arms,,, what has happened that people have become so malicious in threr comments,, a life is a life and she has not killed anyone.. Please Gay America and America be a beacon of light I thought the dark ages were over.

This woman's state of mind and comments about "being from Mars" (that were reported by the others at the dinner table) sound as if she was under the influence of and unknown drug. Didn't Ellen De Generes's ex wander around and tell people she was from Mars one night ? What drug was discovered that she was doing that night? If I were the family and lover of this woman, I would hire a private investigator to find her. She sounds as if she was not behaving like she usually does and her intimate girlfriend, who most likely has seen her under all sorts of conditions, claims this is NOT like her. I personally am concerned about her welfare and fear the worst.

    J. Bocca, If she was "out of her mind" then maybe they should have sent her to a psychiatric hospital for an evaluation instead of the street? Also, she tried to get the bill paid via her grandmother's credit card over the phone and the restaurant said no. I'm also curious as to why the police even needed to search her car, seems odd. The drugs found were "a small amount of marijuana" and not crack as you suggest. Furthermore, I never implied that it had anything to do with her being a lesbian. So, thanks for your reply and so kind of you to call me a lovely name. I still hope you never have a missing family member or friend even if you believe it is their right.

Michele, by saying you hope I don't find myself in "similar circumstances" do you mean acting crazy, skipping out on a bill, and having drugs in my car? Get real bitch. This woman seems out of her mind and definitely doesn't seem like a outstanding citizen regardless of her GPA. Maybe I should go checkup on the crackhead down the street! She might be missing and then we can find out if she's had any lesbian sex and blame the media for not reporting on it due to her sexuality.......*ROLLS EYES*

J.Bocca, You can't really be that naive, can you? Your apathy toward a fellow human sickens me. May you never find yourself, a loved one, or a friend in similar circumstances.

I wonder why she didn't contact a family member or friend to to pick her up at the jail. Someone may have her captive, like the recent cases in the news.

Um this story isn't getting much attention because SHE'S AN ADULT!!! Adults are allowed to go missing and it happens everyday in America. It's your right as a human being to disappear and not tell anyone if you choose. It has NOTHING to do with her being a lesbian or being black. Maybe I would have a little bit more sympathy for her if she wasn't out breaking the law to begin with. Also to the person who posted about the police letting her go at 1:00am, if you read the story you would of known that they offered her to stay there till the morning they aren't in the business of worrying about where people go after they are out of prison if that was the case we would have alot of police officers giving rides home to people instead of upholding the law!

I still find this ridiculous that police would release a person at 1am. Are they trying to get a person murdered? She didn't have money to pay a bill and exactly how was she supposed to get home. Why would they not even check to make sure she had adequate transportation? If not, wait to release her in the morning with sunshine. This makes no sense to me at all.
