On Monday, September 24, American Movie Classics' Backstory program will present a behind-the-scenes look at Myra Breckinridge, the controversial 1970 film based on the novel by out author Gore Vidal. The film was roundly panned at the time of its release (although it has its defenders) but was a pioneering film in its presentation of gay and transsexual themes. Interviewees include the film's stars Raquel Welch and Rex Reed, director Michael Sarne, and out academic critic Camille Paglia.
