The Roman Catholic archbishop of Kampala, Uganda, Cyprian Lwanga, recently denounced the proposed Anti-Homosexuality Bill while also encouraging gays to repent and supporting the practice of "conversion therapy."
The message was broadcast on Uganda's NTV Eleven (see video below), captured on a cell phone, and posted by the Box Turtle Bulletin blog. Lwanga's message was part of his annual Christmas message from Rubaga Cathedral in Uganda's capital of Kampala.
Archbishop Lwanga is shown denouncing "the introduction of the death penalty and imprisonment for homosexual acts." Lwanga said the bill "targets people, rather than seeking to counsel and reach out in compassion to those who need conversion, repentance, support and hope."
