Two Republican state senators from Washington have voiced their support for legalizing marriage equality in the Evergreen State.
Sen. Cheryl Pflug previously voted to enact domestic partnerships, which are currently legal in Washington. Her most recent announcement was natural because she has "been a longtime supporter of human equality," theSeattle Times reported Tuesday.
She added, "I do not feel diminished by having another human being experience the same freedom I am entitled to exercise. I would feel diminished by denying another human the ability to exercise those same rights and freedoms."
Pflug joins her Republican colleague Sen. Steve Litzow, as the first two Republican legislators in the state to publicly support the legislation that has also been endorsed by Gov. Christine Gregoire.
