WATCH: What It's Like to Get a Phone Call From POTUS

Jim Obergefell, the lead plaintiff in the lawsuit that brought marriage equality to the nation, hears from the most powerful person on the planet.

In the midst of the jubilation over the Supreme Court ruling legalizing same-sex marriage in all 50 states, Jim Obergefell, the lead plaintiff in the marriage case, got a phone call from President Obama.

Obergefell -- an Ohio man who fought for years to have his deceased partner recognized as his husband -- was the face of the marriage case, Obergefell v. Hodges (Richard Hodges is the director of the Ohio Department of Health). While speaking to CNN, Obergefell received a phone call from the president, who repeatedly mentioned how proud he was of Obergefell's work in securing national marriage equality.

"Your leadership on this has changed the country," Obama said. Watch the phone call below.
