Donald Trump is now the last remaining hope for the Republican Party's shot at the White House.

Only a day after Texas Sen. Ted Cruz dropped out of the 2016 election, John Kasich announced his plans to also suspend his campaign on Wednesday.

On his personal Twitter account, Kasich posted a video in the style of the famous Star Wars film intro that reads, "Only one candidate can defeat Hillary Clinton in the fall." The GOP presidential candidate was referring to himself. "Our only hope," read the tweet containing the video.

The governor of Ohio included two hashtags that are currently trending on Twitter: "Maythe4thBeWithYou" and "StarWarsDay."
