Wynonna Earp Is as 'WayHaught' as Ever in Trailer for Final Episodes

Kat Barrell and Dominique Provost-Chalkley

On the upside, there's a trailer for new episodes of the queer series Wynonna Earp out nowBut it's bittersweet as the series ushers in its final episodes.

It's been a long winter, but there's relief on the horizon with the announcement that Syfy's fan-favorite series Wynonna Earp will be back with new episodes for its midseason premiere featuring the final episodes of the series on March 5.

And the new trailer for the premiere has plenty of moments featuring the show's premiere queer couple Waverly (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) and Nicole (Kat Barrell) being "WayHaught" and adorable together.

Wynonna Earp, from Emily Andras (Lost Girl), imagines Wynonna, a descendant of Wyatt Earp, as the heir who's the only person who can put the supernatural revenants (the villains of the Old West that Wyatt killed) into their final resting place. There's horror, humor, and heart in the series that has resonated with fans who saved it with a grassroots campaign when the studio had it on the chopping block. And an important piece of the fan base includes queer women who identify with and cheer for WayHaught, a couple that has defied the tropes and pitfalls that have long defined lesbian and bisexual female characters in TV and film.

Fans have come out in droves and gathered annually at the queer convention Clexa-Con, many of whom are "Earpers" who love and identify with the series on a visceral level.

The back half of the show's hard-won fourth season sees Wynonna (Melanie Scrofano) grappling with demons both internal and external as her sister Waverly and her now fiancee Nicole attempt to save the Earp heiress from herself. Of course, the immortal Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon) is at Wynonna's side as well.
